ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome to my portfolio! My name is Djuradj Vujcic but I also go by my nickname George. I enjoy trying out new venues and mediums and hope you will enjoy this portfolio which showcases some of my work so far.

I was born in Scarborough, I completed my elementary education in Clarington, my secondary education in Toronto and I'm a graduate of the Sport Management program at Humber College.

I have been interested in sports and writing since childhood. The first time I wrote something that was published was in January 2003 at the age of ten when I wrote (using my Serbian nickname
Djuka) a funny caption which was published on the Sacramento Kings website. Since then, I have been in love with writing about sports. A highlight of my childhood was when SLAM Magazine published my letter to the editor in issue 97 (May 2006) and issue 103 (December 2006). In February 2007, I won a contest for best basketball article with my article on the new NBA ball which was commissioned that season. In August 2007, my letter to the editor on the 2007 Rogers Cup final was published by the Toronto Sun.

From February 2012 to August 2018, I wrote for Canadian soccer magazine RedNation Online where I was responsible for interviews and special features.

I've been a member of the Canadian Association of Journalists and PEN Canada and am fluent in English and Serbian (including both Serbian scripts of Latin and Cyrillic).

Starting in May 2020, I hosted a podcast called The Urban Book Circle Show on YouTube and Spotify. In the twelve-episode series, I interviewed several experts in their respective fields. In July 2022, I was appointed Club Representative of Serbian White Eagles FC.

In September 2024, I became a Serbian citizen.
